Dissolution of a Benefit Society. – “Club y Porth” the name of a one-time prosperous Society in the Town has been dissolved, and its funds were distributed last Tuesday. It was founded on the 3rd August 1853, and soon gained popularity, for in 1892 it had about 400 members on its rolls and a fund of £1,070 9s. 1d. In the meantime the Society had to combat a great deal of opposition owing to the enormous increase of rival Societies organised by Insurance Corporations and large benefit Societies, with the result that the local Society had dwindled considerably, having at present only 210 members; among whom £858 7s. 10d. was distributed.
