Description: Servant charged with theft, got six weeks hard labour. Charge of leaving employment dismissed.

Elizabeth Evans, servant girl, was charged with having stolen a scarf, the property of Elizabeth Thomas, Dolybont. The complainant said that she and the defendant had been fellow servants at the Halfway Inn. Complainant left, and after going home discovered that she had lost a scarf. The scarf produced is like the one lost. Mary Josephine Hazeel, Halfway Inn, said that the complainant came to her and said that she had lost a scarf. They both in company with P.C. Jones, went and searched the defendant's box, and found the scarf. The defendant at the time said that she had found it.-P.C. Jones said that the scarf produced was found in defendant's box. On being charged with having stolen it, she said that she had picked it up under the bed. The defendant was sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment with hard labour.
