Notes: Reported in the Church of England Convocation Committee Report on Intemperance (1869) as being one of fourteen parishes in Cardiganshire with neither a public house or a beer-house.

The 1888 25-inch map shows a 'Lion Cottage' which suggests there has been something there in the past. It is still shown on the 2017 Ceredigion OS map as 'Black Lion'
