Summary: This was one of the largest, most impressive and most expensive hotels in the county. It was built during the building boom just after the arrival of the railway in Aberystwyth and was opened on the 1st May, 1866.

The Queen's Hotel was built for the Hafod Hotel Company by George Lumley of Aberystwyth. It had at least 83 bedrooms (some adverts claim 104 bedrooms, with all the visitor's rooms overlooking the sea). Like Savin who built the Castle Hotel, Aberystwyth, the Hafod Hotel Company went bankrupt in November, 1866 and the Hotel closed. The Mid-Wales Hotel Company soon purchased it and it was reopened.

It was not very successful and during the early part of the 20th century its rooms were used for a variety of purposes, and closed in 1950
