Summary: On the corner of Terrace Road and Alexandra Road.
The railway first arrived in Aberystwyth in 1863 and was the end of the line, so The Teminus was an appropriate name for a new pub only 20 yards from the station. In 1898 it was taken over by the local Brewer, David Roberts who leased it to Thomas Salmon. He was declared bankrupt in 1903, mainly because he had invested too much money in building houses in Alexandra Road. The Licence was transferred to his second wife, Mary. It was renamed the Vale of Rheidol after the 1960s.

Jones, to Sell by Public Auction at the Lion Hotel, Aberystwyth, On WEDNESDAY, the 9th day of MARCH, 1898, at three, o'clock in the afternoon, subject to conditions to be then and there produced, The Valuable Vaults or Hotel called The Valuable Vaults or Hotel called THE TERMINUS HOTEL, situated at the corner of Railway-terrace and Terrace-road. Containing Bar, Bar Parlour, Kitchen and Back Kitchen on the Ground Floor, Drawing Room and 4 Bedrooms on the first floor, and 5 Bedrooms on the Second floor. The Property, which is situate opposite the Railway Station, in one of the leading thorough-fares of the town, is held under a lease from the Corporation of Aberystwyth for the term of 75 years from the 12th day of November, 1890, at annual ground rents amounting together to £10 12s 8d, and is soId subject to a lease thereof which is now vested in Messrs D. Roberts and Sons, Limited, Brewers, Aberystwyth, granted by the late Mr T. H. Jones for the term of 7 years from the 1st day of September. 1897, at the annual rent of £70, with a provision for a renewed lease at the option of the Lessee for the further term of 7 years at the same rent. The examination in bankruptcy of Mr T. E. Salmon, Terminus Hotel, Aberystwyth, formerly a member of the Town Council and Aberystwyth Board of Guardians, was conducted At the Town Hall. … he stated that he commenced business as a licensed victualler at the Terminus Hotel in March, 1898, without any capital. The hotel, the Receiver added, was held under a lease from a firm of Aberystwyth brewers for even years from Sept., 1897, at a rental of £110. with option to renew. … During the last few years the bankrupt has been engaged in numerous building operations, more or less, of a speculative character … Before he went to the Terminus, he was at the Lisburne Arms as yearly tenant for two years before he left in March, 1898. He was owner of the Lisburne Arms at one time and sold in 1896 or 1897 to Worthington for £ 3,500. He commenced at the Terminus in March, 1898, going there straight from the Lisburne Arms. … You took an assignment of the lease when you went into the Terminus from Mr William Thomas? Yes, I paid £1,000 for the good will, stock, and lease.
