1897 "a young servant girl named Margaret Jane Jenkins of Llanbadarn Fawr was charged by the Chief Constable with having stolen four knives, three forks, six tea spoons, and a quantity of cooked ham from the Padarn Coffee Tavern, Great Darkgate-street, on the previous evening.-Margaret Evans, proprietress of the Padarn Coffee Tavern, stated that accused had been employed at the Coffee Tavern for some years off and on.
