Description: Extract from the Annual Meeting of the (Licensing) Committee held at the Town Hall Lampeter on 11th April 1907 concerning an application for a seven day licence fro the Central Hotel.

Transcript:
An application was made by Mr D Pennant James, solicitor Aberayron on behalf of Mr Evan Morgan of “The Green” Llanon, the owner of the premises for confirmation of a seven day licence in respect of the “Central Hotel” Llanon

Mr Evan Morgan gave evidence on oath to the effect that the present house was a new building built on the site of an old thatched house called the Sun Inn which had a six day licence, that the new building was commodious and contained accommodation for guests to stay, the rent was £18 and the assessed value £17-7-6.

Mr William David Jones the tenant also gave evidence on oath as to the accommodation provided.

The Police offered no objection to the notices

The Committee did not consider that there was any appreciable monopoly value attached to the Licence in view of the fact that the application was only an extension of a six day licence to a seven and in view of the operation of the Sunday Closing Act for Wales, sales could only be made to bona fide travellers and not to the general public.

It was resolved that the licence be confirmed without any monopoly value being fixed.

Notes:A local story is told that the Sun Inn continued in use whilst the Central Hotel was built around it, in order that the existing licence should not be lost.
