Description: This meeting marked the formation of the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Society, which is still in existence (2017) although it has been renamed to the Ceredigion Historical Society.
Transcript:Subsequently, a meeting was held at the Red Lion Hotel, Pontrhydfendigaid, with the object of starting a county antiquarian society and another meeting was held on Monday afternoon at Aberystwyth. Sir E. J. Webley Parry Pryse, Gogerddan, has consented to become president of the Society. An executive committee was appointed with Professor Tyrrell Green as chairman, the Rev J. F. Lloyd. Llanilar. as secretary, and Mr Edward Evans, Aberystwyth, treasurer. A trip has been arranged to Talley Abbey on August 25th.
