It is included here as, although it's not really in Ceredigion, it is just outside, and was very popular with drinkers from over the river.
As with all border towns, the pubs were popular on Sundays when Ceredigion was dry.
The 1888 25-inch shows the Salutation Inn, the Plough and ten P.H.s
1915 "P.S. Harries and P.C. W. Thomas stated that there were 17 public-houses within a radius of a mile, and the population of Newcastle-Emlyn Urban was 922, therefore there was a public-house for about every 55 persons"
