Summary: One Society was established in 1780 but disbanded in 1888. Another was formed on 29.3.1838. The proper St David's Club was formed of Masons and others on 8.12.1890. They met in the Masonic Lodge, then moved to the Old Bank House in Little Darkgate Street (formerly the National Provincial Bank and Free Library, owned by the City Brewery, Lichfield), from 17.10.1903, now 37 Eastgate.
THE 'OLD SOCIAL CLUB', ABERYSTWYTH. Manuscript copies of 'Articles to be observed by a Society of Gentlemen, inhabitants of the town and neighbourhood of Aberystwyth, 14 March 1780', and a printed sheet of revised rules, 15 March 1881 ALSO 1780-1934: rules, minutes, accounts, financial records, correspondence and papers. There are copies and some original documents in the St David's Club building.
