"Margaret Jones, Cross Inn, Gwnnws, was charged with keeping her house open during illegal hours on Good Friday. P.C. Pierce proved the case. Fined 5s, and costs.
Thomas George, London House, Gwnnws, Thomas Jones, Ponrhydfendigaid, John Richards, Post Office, Gwnnws, and Nathaniel Edwards, Ponsarn, Gwnnws, were charged with being at the Cross Inn Gwnnws during illegal hours on Good Friday. The defendants said they had been at some eisteddfod. P.C. Pierce proved the case. Fined 2s. each, and costs each" CN 13 April 1877
