1883 - (January) Petty Sessions report of several drunkenness cases refers to a "John Edwards, the present landlord" CN 12 Jan 1883
1883 - The licence transfer got nasty, see press cuttings. John Edwards charged with permitting drunkenness, then a letter in the press criticises the magistrates for refusing to transfer the licence to Edwards. Then he's charged with selling alcohol without a licence, and finally the licence is transferred to John Rees. Mary Edwards mentioned as wife of John, and Daniel Thomas, Ynyshir, as interim licence holder somehow.
