1897 "a young servant girl named Margaret Jane Jenkins of Llanbadarn Fawr was charged by the Chief Constable with having stolen four knives, three forks, six tea spoons, and a quantity of cooked ham from the Padarn Coffee Tavern, Great Darkgate-street, on the previous evening.-Margaret Evans, proprietress of the Padarn Coffee Tavern, stated that accused had been employed at the Coffee Tavern for some years off and on. She had been with them all through the summer but slept at home." Cambrian News 10 Sept 1897
