"ILLEGAL HOURS. For keeping his house open during illegal hours, on the 1st inst., Evan Thomas, Cardigan Arms, was fined 10s. and costs, and two persons found on the premises were fined 5s. and costs, and 2s. 6d. and costs respectively. P.C. Thomas proved the charge. " Cgn Obs 11 Feb 1882

"P.C. David Davies charged Evan Thomas, landlord of the Cardigan Arms public house, with keeping his house open for the sale of intoxicating liquors between 12 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. on Saturday. December 10th. A previous conviction within the present year having been proved, a fine of 20s. and costs was imposed, and the license was endorsed." CN 5 Jan 1883
