Drunk on Licensed Premises
Adam Lewis, Great Darkgate-street, earthenware dealer, was charged with being drunk on licensed premises, to wit, the Butcher's Arms Inn, Aberystwyth, on the 29th of November. P.C. 33 said that about a quarter past nine last Monday he was on duty near the town clock and saw a crowd of people near the meat market in Great Darkgate-street, and was told that one of the crowd was making a disturbance and that he had gone to the Butcher's Anns. Witness went there and saw defendant sitting in the kitchen, and he was very drunk. After hearing the case the Bench considered the case proved, and defendant was fined 2s. 6d. and costs.

Permitting Drunkenness on Licensed Premises.
Evan Morgan, Butcher's Arms, Aberystwyth, victualler, was charged with the above offence on the 29th November. P.C. 35, said he visited the Butcher's Arms, and saw the defendant in the last case sitting in the kitchen. He was very drunk and had a glass of beer before him. When he (witness) entered the room defendant got up and fell against him. Witness called the landlady's attention to him and asked her what she supplied him with, and she replied a glass of beer and added she did not know she was doing wrong. She said she did not know defendant was so drunk. Defendant was fined 20s. and costs. Defendant had been fined twice previously, and the licence would now be endorsed.
